What This Is About
Simple.
It is our opinion that when it comes to diet and fitness, Oprah Winfrey is running a confidence game - she lures people in by gaining their trust, then deceives them with falsified ads and untruthful sales pitches (e.g., the images and text in ads, such as Oprah's testimonial/endorsement on the Best Life Diet website).
We think she should be stopped and made to pay for her deceptions, which, we believe, have hurt people.
In a nutshell, we believe that she:
engages in deceptive advertising
is untruthful (i.e., lies)
has integrity of convenience
abuses the trust people have in her by:
directly or indirectly offering advice in areas where she is a failure
directly or indirectly offering advice in areas where she is unqualified
anointing others as "experts" in areas where she is incapable of distinguishing crap from value
creating experts ("Oprah's medical experts..." - last paragraph) who generate income for her
causes harm to adults and children through her irresponsibility (for more info, see here)
shortens people's lives (for more info, see here)
and does all of the above (and likely more) in order to separate people from their money so she can have it.
That is our opinion.
In support, we offer arguments in favor of our position which are available for you to read.
Take some recreation in the Big Yard and follow the links to view them.
You may conclude otherwise. Or you might agree with us.
If the latter, do what you can to stop her before she hurts more people.
As examples:
you can contact the Federal Trade Commission complaining about her deceptions
you can contact the Federal Trade Commission complaining about the deceptions of her experts (e.g., Bob Greene and false/deceptive advertising)
visit the Big Yard for a list of products to boycott and why
don't purchase her magazine - O, The Oprah Magazine
don't purchase the products of her advertisers
don't purchase publications from her and her expert's publishers
boycott the books and products of her experts
Be creative.
Her hands are in many pots, but not all. There probably remain myriad ways to not support her.
If you have suggestions or strategies, feel free to post them at the Jail For Oprah blog.
By the way, the picture of Oprah in the upper left corner is not how her body looks today. But it might after a while on the Hard Time Diet - possibly the only way she will ever get her wish and lose weight.
